Spellbound Questions and Response

Questions
  1. Do you have something in your life like the National Spelling Bee? Describe some of the pressure you feel.
  2. Should we still have spelling bees? Why? Why not?
Answers

1. I guess the grade side of school can be compared to things like the National spelling be. See this is because all of the students are competing for something. In the case of the National Spelling Bee, all of the students are competing to win it; However, in the case of grades you get in school all of the students are competing for a place in the college of their choice. Many students feel pressured to get good grades to enter into colleges where they want to go or colleges that the parents encourage or force the kid to go causing a similar pressure to the one caused by a spelling bee.

2. I personally think spelling bee's should exist and in my opinion saying that they should be banned or that they should stop existing has no valid point of foundation. If you say that they should stop existing because they cause pressure on students you would be retorted with a comeback talking about how many things in life cause pressure on human beings and how If you fundamentally think that things that cause pressure on human beings should be banned then you have the right to thinkng that; However, you can not ban something because you do not like it or do not agree with it because some people like it and agree with it. Therefore one must accept that banning something like a spelling bee is pointless.
